TG - Jake's Roadhouse
Come out to the TG at Jake's on Chauncey on Friday from 6-8pm. As usual, everyone who signs in gets $3. Once again, I can't convince management to give us any extra incentive.

TG - Lov Shack

TG this Friday at Dog 'n Suds at 401 SAGAMORE PKWY. WEST LAFAYETTE. It goes from 6-8pm. Get $3 for showing up, plus a free root beer w/food purchase (per person) if you mention "HKN" when ordering.
Come to EE 270 at 6pm, 8/26 to fill out the POD board, and be amazed and amused by our tomfoolery. The lounge will open the following day, so this meeting is important!
This semester's officer elections meeting will be tonight at 6pm in EE 170. According to the something or other uncertainty principle, there's a slight chance that Bill Gates (or a very poor lookalike) will be there!
Just a reminder that the HKN Spring banquet is this Sunday, at 6pm in the Regency Ballroom at the Best Western Hotel. Please note that formal attire is required. Those who arrive early will have hor's d'oevres ready at the pool side just across from the main ballroom.
The Best Western hotel is located on SR-26, just before I-65 in Lafayette. HKN is not responsible for providing rides, but like-minded individuals may meet at the lounge at 5:30pm. Citybus SR-26 bus also takes you there (http://gocitybus.com/regularroutes/7sun.htm)

HKN Spring 2009 Banquet
We will be holding our semi-annual (semesterly?) banquet on Sunday April 19th. The banquet will be held in the contemporary and elegant Regency Ballroom of the Best Western Hotel at 6pm. Join your fellow HKNers for an evening of fun, entertainment and good food.
There will be a buffet with a wide variety of food to suit all dietary needs. If you have any dietary concerns, please indicate them on your ticket or send me an email.
Tickets are $10 each for actives and guests, and free for pledges. They are on sale in the lounge through April 10th.
f you are graduating this semester, you can get your own FREE PERSONALIZED HKN PADDLE! Just fill out a paddle order form in the lounge. Please print your name clearly, and attach a $50 security deposit check. The last date to order your paddle is Friday March 13th. The paddle will be handed out at the Spring HKN banquet, and will also be available for pickup after the banquet.
Note: Your check will be returned upon pickup of the paddle. It will only be cashed if you do not pick it up.
Actives: make sure you attend the callout and social, starting at 6pm in EE 270. Food will be served.

QE study session and wiki population

The lounge will be open for studying for the qualifying exam and populating the QE wiki. Please come help even if you have already taken the exam. Hope to see you all there!
The HKN Design Contest will be taking place this Saturday, April 26th at 1PM in EE 161. We will be testing competitor's circuits to see who can make the largest voltage from a 9V 50mA source. The winner gets a $3000 scholarship!

Actives Meeting tomorrow (with officer nominations while supplies last!)

On Saturday, April 12, Beta Chapter defeated Alpha Chapter in flag football by a score of 12-6. The game was sloppy on both sides of the ball as the game was played in 40F temperatures and both rain and sleet.

Trophy Returns to HKN
HKN beat IEEE in flag football 19-7 at this weekend's picnic to reclaim the Electric Bowl title and its famed trophy. HKN recovered from its defeat in last year's game to bring their record to 4-1 since the Electric Bowl's inception in 2003. Congratulations!

That's right! Tonight's meeting (there's a meeting tonight) will be the semester election meeting. If you don't go, you'll be assigned to the 6:30 POD...exactly.
We'll be featuring a Wiki card game called 1000 white cards!
(starting) Rules of the game: 1) The cards can re-define the rules 2) When everyone is out of cards, and no more cards can be drawn, the game ends. Whomever has the most "points" wins!

Spring Picnic
The spring picnic will be held at Happy Hollow Park, shelter 4, on Saturday the 31st of March from 11am-4pm. Show up and watch HKN dominate IEEE in flag football. And of course food will be provided.
This week we will be bowling with some of the future grad students at Star Lanes. It starts at 10pm and will end at midnight (if anyone want's to continue on till 1am, that can be arranged).

HKN IN PhD COMICS
After his recent trip to Purdue, Jorge Cham, author of PhD Comics, included the HKN Lounge in his comic strip. Check it out here.
On Saturday April 8 there will be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament to raise money for charity. Entry fee is $15 per team and you can sign up in the lounge. We really need some teams to participate or the event may not happen!
