HKN Racing
History
In the Spring of 2010, Purdue launched the first
EV Grand Prix. Teams had approximately 2 months to get a gokart together
and race. HKN fielded a gokart and finished in the middle of the pack.
In 2011, a local supplier agreed to provide us a roll cage at cost, and then
failed to deliver. This, along with other complications beyond our control,
prevented us from competing in either the Purdue Grand Prix or the race
held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The Team
All members of the gokart build team are HKN members. This year, the team consists of:
Daniel Aguiar, Robert Wortman, Eric Villasenor, Prashant Lalwani, Gerald Musyj, Brian Bowman, and Andrew Senetar.
Team photos and members lists are available here.
Gokart Specs
We run a 3-phase brushless DC motor with a controller configured for
proportional regenerative braking. In 2010 and 2011, the controller was a
stock part, but we are investigating building our own motor controller for
2012.
